Each to his/her own..................use the site in the way which you prefer.

I don't often delete my contributions...........referring back to them is a handy way of keeping track of who acknowledges help.......and who doesn't.

Colin, I disagree that they are not useful once the requester knows the info.

Other descendants come along looking. Or occasionally they need to be referred to down the track.

If they were a problem to the speed of this site GR would feel the need to delete threads by a certain use-by-date.

I sometimes delete threads when I am bored, but agree, it is a pointless excercise. Just leave them where they are.

Given the relatively few members (out of the total GR membership, that is) that actually post threads, my guess is that they take up a miniscule amount of space on their servers compared to the millions of names and hundreds and thousands of trees which are stored there.

If GR were worried, they would have done something.

I have 'splurges' of deleting my threads. I think its when I feel like tidying things up!!

Why bother deleting your threads? They're not using up any space on your computer.

Unless you really want to, there is no need to delete threads. They don't take up any room on your computer and sometimes old threads can be of help to other people.

You can only delete threads that you have started yourself. You can delete replies you have posted on someone else's thread, but the thread will still remain on the boards.
