Donna,

The cemetery records are not closed to the public - only the still-birth register. If you know where the stillborn child is buried it is possible to get burial details from there.

WOW I must have caught them on a good day to let me view them. I took my mum with me and we searched for parents death first and then her brother. We were looking at 1940.

The stillbirth register was started in 1927, so any stillbirths before this time wouldn't have been registered.

The stillbirth register is kept at the GRO in Southport, but unlike the ordinary birth and death registers they are not open to the public. Only the parents of the stillborn child can apply for a certificate (or if both parents are deceased then the siblings of the stillborn child can apply).

Yes I am sure they are registered. I went in search of my mum's brother a few months ago. Went to the local cemetary and they showed me a seperate book of still births. Great information in them from name ,address of parents and occupation of father.
Find the cemetary where they could have been and do quick telephone call to the office. Mine were really helpful.

hi all, hopeyou all had a good xmas. does anybody know if a still birth had to be registered and if so how would you find it. thanks christine
