Hi Rachel
His father was James Allison a merchant seaman and was prob at sea or may already have been 'lost at sea'. I cannot really find out what happened to him - or where he came from.
Allin all a real brick wall!
Ernest Edward was my grandad - so a very short branch on my tree!

He could be with other relatives (who had different surnames to Allison and Cox) and his surname has been incorrectly entered or he could have been in a school establishment somewhere.

It is strange for there to be just 1 child in a family in the late 1880/90's - usually most families had more than 1 child.

Hi Rachel,
I don't think the 1891 record is him as I know grandparents were surname Allison or Cox . He had no brothers or sisters - wonder where he could be? Maybe he is mistranscribed somewhere.

Mother Mary Ann Allison (maiden name Cox)
Father James Allison Merchant sea man.
I-think I have mum her on her own but Married.
Dad was probably at sea..... one possible siting....

So where was Ernest aged 5 ?
