Printing my tree

ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

I can't print a copy of my tree off and it is really frustrating me. When I get the green navigation arrows with the plus and minus signs below them I click on the green 'print' button but nothing seems to happen. I've tried right clicking on the 'print' button and managed to print off some very small and unreadable pages that show I should be able to see (and supposedly use) the scaler and 'print selection' button. But I can't see the bottom half of the tree on the page as there is a light blue bar with an upside down triangle in the way. When I click on that all I see is my own personal details in the tree update page.

Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong and how I can print my whole tree so that it is readable? I'm seeing both my sisters tomorrow as well as the rest of their families and they might be interested in seeing what I have uncovered so far.

Also the connection lines between the people are very faint. Can anyone advise?

Peter.

Once a tree gets to a certain size, you can't print the whole thing. I think all you can do then is call up ancestors and descendents of specific people and print those. And yes the lines between people are faint on the GR tree.

Try pressing F11 instead of print button............works for me.

Thanks for your tips but niether seems to work for me. Think I might have to invest in some family tree software and just double entry everything!

Peter you dont need to double enter all your info if you buy a tree program you do export gedcom from GR which they send you via e-mail ;;;
you then save the gedcom somewhere you will find it ie; desktop
install the tree sortware and then ;;;
Right click on the gedcom open with Family tree maker or whatever and its all then stored there for you ;;

To add to what Babs has suggested, once you have taken a copy of your GR tree to start with, you maintain your 'Master' tree on your PC using FTM, or whichever tree program you choose.

Periodically you upload a copy by way of gedcom back to GR. This can, if you wish be a cut down version if there are names you don't want to be seen on GR. For example, my GR tree is only about a third of the size of my 'Master' tree which is on my PC.
