Dawnie
I can't find a definite birth match for Olive, nor G.

If you search threads on here via searchwords you will find help re what to do about adoption searches.
I think the friend needs a copy of her birth certificate showing birthplace and mother'same.
I know little about these searches, but know that it is possible to find answers.
The 1997 birth may not be the correct person, ...or your Olive may have married. It would be best to start with the definite birth certificate incase you go off down the wrong track.

If you need help looking for possible marriage in every quarter just pm me and I'll help.

It would be worth contacting the local social services department to find out how long they have kept their records and if it's possible to access them.

A copy of the mother's death certificate might show a relative as the informant.
Maybe you could also check her address back in electoral lists if she is local and see if she was living with anyone who might be another source of information.

friend has just called asking if I can help find info for her friend who is ill and just come out of hospital, I have never done anything on adoptions so need your help. G, as wee will call her has okayed the information being put up she isnt after anything just wants to know where she comes from before its too late.

G was adopted by a family who also had a natural daughter, this daughter has just died and in amongst her things was Gs adoption certificate.

Her original surname was Widdowson and the adoption was 5/11/1946. The mother was unmarried and we think G was born approx April 1946 (sorry friend forgot to ask her her birthday)

The mother was local as was the adoption and would be the Nuneaton and Bedworth district in Warwickshire.

My friend thinks she has found the mothers death in 1997 (if she stayed unmarried)

Mothers name was Olive Ruby Widdowson.

Where do we go from here? G would like to know if her birth mum had anymore children.

Do the adoption people keep files this long as maybe there is something in there but how does she go about it.

G didnnt know that her sister had her documents although she knew she was adopted but she had such a good unbringing hasnt wanted to do anything about finding out info til now.

Any Help appreciated
