This was my Grt grt grandmother and I am looking for her birth family. I would like to find her on the 1841 census and if possible after 1871
I recently discovered - thanks to people on this site- that her husband James cox was a convicted bigamist. His name was actually James Hitchcock but she married him as a Cox. She was his first wife - unless I discover otherwise!
Marriage details:
Married to James Cox
In 1856 they lived in Artillery place Woolwich in 1856. He was a blacksmith from Thetford Norfolk.
Her father was George Carston a labourer.

James seems to have left in the 1860s - is living with Jane in 1871 as James Hitchcock (his birth name) He was convicted at the Old Bailey for bigamy in 1865.

I have Elizabeth Cox in 1871 I think - married with no husband. not sure where she disappears to after that - her whole faily seem to have vanished!
Here she is in 1871:

Mary A Cox abt 1861 Greenwich Daughter Greenwich, Kent

Charlotte Cox abt 1856 Greenwich, Kent, England Daughter Greenwich, Kent

Any help appreciated - sorry this post is so long!

As you say they seem to disappear. The only near one was Maryann Cox age 20 in 1881, Cook/Domestic born Gravesend Kent

Yes you are right - but by that time Mary Ann who was my G Grandmother was married and that is not her. i guess as they were all female they could have all been married and Elizabeth herself married as well - but I would like to know.
More importantly from the family history point of view I would love to be able to trace Elizabeth's family - as i would like to be able to take her family further back .
Thank you for your help
