Family tree maker - Advice please

I received FTM as a Christmas present and was under the impression that I would be able to import my tree as a GEDCOM from my genes reunited tree. I was just about to get started and it would appear I have to manually enter all my tree. Is this correct or am I missing something. Thoroughly fed up!
Thanks

Brummy Chris in Cheltenham

If its a full version of FTM, yes you should be able to import your GR gedcom.

At what point do you have a problem?

Hi Heather
I haven't encountered a problem yet I was just about to get started after reading the manual, and it did not say anywhere about importing a gedcom. it is the 2009 Platinum edition, so I asume it is the full version. Incidentally it was £29. 99 with 6 months free subscription to Ancestry from Amazon, I thought that was a good price.
Thankyou for answering. I may well be on here again shortly asking for more advice. I can do the genealogy bit it's the computer stuff that I sometimes struggle with.

6 months subscription to ancestry??!! That sounds like a bargain - is it the full subscription? If it is I can feel an order coming on......

Hi Amanda
It says on the voucher an Essentials membership and the records I will have access to are:
Census 1841 - 1901 for England Scotland and Wales
BMD indexes 1837 for England and Wales
Military records inc British Army WW1 Records
Newspapers and Periodicals
British Phone Books 1880 - 1984
Deeds, Court documents and Wills.
I already have an Ancestry sub and when I phoned to ask how this would affect my free sub I was told it would be added on to what I have remaining. I do not know if I will have to activate the voucher once my other sub has finished, I am going to phone again to clarify this point.
Hope this helps

Many thanks for that, Christine - sounds like a good deal to me!

I have 2 trees on Tribalpages but think it would be a good idea to have a personal copy too that doesn't depend on internet access, so have been considering buying a family tree programme.

What are your thoughts on this version?

Best wishes

Hi there, pleased you sorted it. I have found that ancestry automatically add the extra months to your sub now - check your account on there and it should have added on the 6 months.

Its a bit silly that you can buy a program and get the 6 months for less than the normal sub. I know they had the 2006 on amazon for sale not long back for £4.99 with 3 months sub. I was trying to work out if they would allow me to buy 4 at £20 and that would include a years sub LOL
