Im afraid i dont know a great deal about him to be honest.

I would have to say the second ones look the best bet but thats just a guess as he named his first son John.

Hello Heather

Ive not got his marriage cert as it is his daughter Martha Carroll who married a gentleman named William Hutfield who is the brother of another Hutfield who married my rellie.
Sorry for all that, im just intrested to see if i can find out any info on John without spending to much.

He certainly got about, didnt he. Have you got his marriage cert as that will surely give his occupation details.

Likely?

Marriages Mar 1876
>>>>Carroll John William Alverstoke 2b 730
COLLINS Fanny Alverstoke 2b 730
Hemming George Alverstoke 2b 730
>>>>Lock Annie Alverstoke 2b 730

Buy the cert using the above ref from GRO online for £7.

Alternatively get one of the kids birth certs.

Hello all

I was just wondering if anybody can spot this family on any of the census before 1891?
I know that they were in different countries at certain points but i just need to narrow down John William Carroll's regiment if i can.

John W Carroll abt 1854 Blackwoter, Surrey (should be Blackwater)
Annie Carroll c 1856 Brockhursl, Hampshire (possibly Brockenhurst)
Annie Carroll c 1878 Aldershot, Hampshire
Edward Carroll c1888 Alexandria, Egypt
John Carroll c 1882 Halifax Nova Scotia
Kathleen Carroll c 1885 Malta Island
Martha Carroll c 1881 Bermuda Island
Mary Carroll c 1890 Portsea, Hampshire
