Hi. I'm just starting to trace my family tree and cannot find my Grandfather on the 1901 census. Where might he have been? Was he just missed off or could he have been somewhere that didn't need to fill in a census return? I knew my Grandfather and have his birth certificate so know all about him, I'm just a little curious. Any help gratefully accepted.

He has probably just been mistranscribed. As Vivienne says, post the details here and then we can see if we can find him.

Could he have been fighting in the Boer War and been away during the census?
