Does anyone know if it is possible to get copies of coroners inquest reports. I'm interested in something that happened in Hampstead in 1934. I believe the inquest took place at the St. Pancras Coroner's Court.

Hi
Its not the answer to your query but if you can't find the coroners report the local library will probably have copies of the newspaper of the time and an account will be recorded as it is of public interest.-J Le

This query comes up a lot and the answer is usually, you probably cant. Records were destroyed pretty sharpish and you would only get a tiny synopsis. I got my GGF's inquest report from the local newspaper (1912) and it was fascinating - GGM giving her bit, the policeman who attended, the son who found him. Makes it and them real.

Thanks Heather for your reply.

I will try to find the local newspaper that had the report.

reply i got back from Library, my grandmother died in 1947

Thank you for your enquiry. Coroner's records are closed to access for 75 years after the event, but I shall have a look at the local newspapers to see if they include a report of the inquest. I'll be in touch again next week to let you know if I have any success

So now i just have to hope and wait lol
