William John Sanderson was born in cumberland in about 1837 and emmigrated to New Zealand in 1863. I found a passport application #27428 dated 7 July 1860. Once in New Zealand he married Sarah Patterson, who was born in South Africa,in 1871. He died in 1905 in Coromandel, New Zealand. Neither the marriage nor the death certificates give Williams parents names.
This is the reason that I wanted to see if I could track the passport information to see if I could find a home address in Cumberland. Then I might be able to find him in the census.
Any help would be appreciated.

The National Archives has passport applications I think.

Oh, I see you have actually found the application - what you are asking is, where did he go.

May be if you gave us fuller details we could help.

But can't seem to find a UK version anywhere at the moment!

I have found a passport application in 1860. How can I find where this person lived and what his destination was?
