Ancestry DO have copies of Freebmd available for free.
From a guest account;
birth
Albert Samuel Chambers 1889 Apr-May-Jun Bedford Bedfordshire
death
Albert Samuel Chambers abt 1889 1889 Bedford Bedfordshire
Far easier to use than Freebmd.

Can't agree with Thelma/Jim that Ancestry freebmds are easier to use than freebmd itself. I think the search facility on freebmd is far better. Also, Ancestry's freebmds are taken from freebmd, which is updated about once a month. Ancestry's updates are far later.

I couldn't do with Ancestry's free offering and didn't find it easy to use at all.

Free BMD has far superior search facilities and even better now that records are virtually complete up to 1930
