All I have is a marriage certificate for 1920 which states Frederick Albert Gould was aged 27 and his father was Arthur Gould. When I looked up his birth the only one I could find was in 1885. (his wife was born 1897). Family have told me that he lied about his age on his wedding certificate. I sent off for a birth certificate for him for 1885 and there is no fathers name on it only a mothers name but with the surname Gould ? I found a Frederick Albert Gould on the census but cannot tie it in ..... just dont know what else to do?

Do you know when he died? The index would give an age or DOB which you could use to try and narrow the margin of error.

What was the father's occupation?

Where was the marriage?

Who were the witnesses?

Are there any GOULD, or other related people as witnesses?

Have you found Frederick on 1911 census, where someone else ( adult) may have given his correct age?

Hi
Have you checked both the 1891 and 1901? Would it be worth following the mother's name as that appears to be the only (possible) concrete information. I presume he came from Yeovil and there seems to be lots of Arthurs from there, could it be his grandfathers name he just 'slipped' in. -J Le

It would help a lot if you could post some details as to exactly what you know and have found so far. Which records, names, dates, places, occupations are a good start.

You mention a marriage cert but what else do you know?

JANICE ..... I have been told that he died about 1944-1945.

ERICTHERED ..... He got married in Headford, Somerset and his two witnesses were Kathleen May Stevens and George Richard Douglas. His fathers occupation was I think surgeon? or a sergeant? I cannot read the writing on the wedding certificate.

GWYN IN KENT .... When I went on 1911 census on findmypast recently they didn`t have Somerset on there yet.

He could have been illegitimate and invented a father for his marriage certificate..my grandfather did that in 1920 too.

I have just looked at 1911 census and cannot find Frederick Albert Gould on there either ! Has Somerset now been completed on there ?
