Hi Gaille,
A tip I got about searching on the 1911 Census. If you just put in the surname, and the residential place but where it says 'other members of the household' put in the first name of the person you know. Say your relative was Anne Smith put Smith in the first surname box but put Anne in the other relatives box. Thiswill then come up with all the names of people in a household with Anne Smith in that residential place.

Hope this helps!

i am so happy (and sad) i went for the original page for my father.
it showed 6 children born but only 5 living.
my father had another brother i knew nothing about!
worth the look for me.

By just getting the transcript you are trusting the transcriptors interpritation of any dodgy hand-writing (which as we have seen on previous censuses, isn't always wise). There have also been stories on these boards of additional info being written on the forms by our ancestors, due to misunderstanding the forms etc, and then crossed out by the enumerator. This will obviously be omitted from the transcript.
Everyone must make their own call on which ones are worth getting the full image of. Personally, I am getting the full image of all direct lines and am waiting for siblings, etc, until it is part of a subscription, except for the (very) odd one that has something that curiosity won't let me wait, but I can't justify full price for.

Thank you both for your comments; looks like I will have to pick out the most important ones and pay the full amount.

Looks like that's the only bit that's missing.

I'm trying to save a bit of money by only going for the originals of my direct line(s) just because I want to see their handwriting. The other odd bits or ones I'm not sure about I just hit the transcript button.

I keep telling myself that two originals equal one certificate and what I've found so far has answered a lot of questions so it's been worth it.

Tricky thing will be hanging on until it's a lot cheaper to go and find all the siblings etc just to see what they were all up to!!

Is it only the information about how many children were born and or died that is missing from the Transcript page compared to the Original page?

Is it worth just looking at the Transcript page to save money?
