Query on Death Certificate

Having just received the copy of my gg mother's death certificate, it is stated that she was "Widow of John Durkin a Tailor (Journeyman). Can anyone explain what "Journeyman" means?

Hi Pat,

It means they tended to travel around with their occupation.

Hope that helps alittle, my G G Grandfather was a carpenter Journey man born in Oxfordshire, howevrer on the census returns he's in London, Birmingham etc...
