People have mentioned on here that the original shows all the children born to the parents and how many are still alive. Does it give the childrens names or just the number of children.?

Also does it show if the children are adopted. I have one man who had three wives (not at one time I might add) and a load of children. Some I know are adopted/stepsons/daughters and some I am not sure about. Thanks

It tends to show just the number of the total children and then the number that have died. It only shows living children's detals if they were at that at address on census night.

However, people got confused completing the form. One of my ancestors completed the details for his son who had died (the name was then crossed out) However, it was useful as I didn't know he had existed.

Also some people may have completed details for living children even though they weren't living there because they became confused.

Thank you Secret Red Squirrel

I was hoping it would help me solve a few problems with this family but I am not sure it will now. Maybe when I get a few pennies to spare I will buy it anyway.

All the best
