I'm new to tracing my tree so I'd appreciate any advice anyone can give to help me find a death record.
I think I have discovered that my grandmother was a twin (two births registered in same quarter with same mother's maiden name of Appleby in the right area).
My grandmother: Lucy Rebecca Pauline Sugg born 27/10/1915
Birth reg: Oct - Dec 1915 Islington 1b 401
Potential twin: Doris A Sugg
Birth reg: Oct - Dec 1915 Islington 1b 473
I can find no record to say when Doris died but she must have died in childhood as sometime after the mother's death in 1923, the surviving 3 sisters were put into an orphanage and nobody has ever mentioned a Doris.
Can anyone help? I'm so intrigued to solve this mystery.

Thye are different page numbers which is strange .......... suaully twins would have exactly the same reference numbers, or possibly one page number apart if one happened to be at the bottom of a page.
There is no sign of a death.
I wonder if it is just happenstance?????

Hi Cheryl,
I may be wrong but i had thought that usually twins were on the same page, so the vol and page numbers after the entry should be the same (or possibly just one page difference if one was on the bottom of a page and the second the top of the next) perhaps there are two couples with the same surname. for example i have a pair of brothers marrying a pair of sisters which would have that affect. there are also two children reg in the same quarter in 1914 with same mmn of appleby.
if you put into freebmd all types for Sugg in islington between 1910 and 1920 there are numerous births and marriages. one of the births with mmn appleby is before a marriage of a sugg to an appleby- this could be an indication that there are two couples or that the children were all of one couple but that on of the children was born before the marriage- that is how i would interpret the results.
i hope that helped a little, sorry if i have confused you even further.

I think you will find the girls are separate children born to both of the couples above.

Thanks for all the advice so far.
I'm now worried I've been adding non-related babies! It makes sense that twins would be listed together.
The parents of my grandmother Lucy are:
William James Sugg and Susan Mary Appleby.
Of the following children that I had also found, I have never heard mention of Phyllis, Leslie or Doris which are the ones I've been trying to find out more about. The others definitely have been mentioned by family.
