hi does anybody know what the name cherry could be short for i have this name in my tree but cannot find a birth for her

I don't know, but have you tried CHARLOTTE?
I always thought that CHERRY was a name i it's own right.

this cherry was born in the 1930s
but i think i have been given the wrong name as i cannot find a birth for her

Maybe Cherry was a nickname and nothing like her real name. My Grandmother was known as Cissy but her name was Eva. Not much help, sorry.

I had a friend born c1930 and her name was Cherry.

The only Cherry I've known was born in 1950s.
I had a look on freebmd though and there are births back in 1830s.
Interesting how we think of names in 'eras' and would have thought of Cherry as fairly modern.

In Martin Chuzzlewit by Charles Dickens, I think Charity Peckniff is known as Cherry.

Girl at school was known as Cherry and her real name was Sheryl spelt with an S
