Put in the surname......and the county and place of residence........

If the surname is unusual.................you may get lucky.

from what i can gather though, it only brings up the name of the person you are searching for, therefore the only way to see each person living at the particular household is if you pay - is this correct?

I'm pretty sure you can just buy £6.95 worth giving you 60 credits, although instead of having a year to use them you only get a few months. Theres a 10% off code mentioned in some of the threads on the census.

Searching is free it only costs to view transcriptions (10 credits) and scans of the orginal household schedule (30 credits). Also you only pay once to view a transcription of a household or orginal, then its kept under your records allowing you to go back to it.

Heres the link www.1911census.co.uk

Definatley worth having a nosey on the search espically if you know of more than one person who should be in the household, helped me reduce the number of potential 'john smiths' I need to track down.

I do though think unless you have the cash to splash or a brick wall/mystery to slove than if you can wait hang on till its on a subscription basis, as unless you are very controlled its easy to go through the credits very quickly.

As far as I know the only website with access to the documentation is findmypast.com and it's expensive to say the least. You have to buy credits, minimum £24-00 and this amount is reduced every time you view a new document.
I have no doubt other sites will take the census somewhere in the future but right now that particular website will want to milk the demand.

can anyone tell me how you view the 1911 census and if you have to pay - which is the best website to use? Also are genes reunited going to be getting it?
