The GED files are currently broken. If you export a GED you'll find marriage dates are wrong. Just year dates will export fine, but full dates wont work.
If you then import your GED all full dates for marriages will be broken. So be carfull.

This does not apply to every gedcom file downloaded from GR.

It certainly applies to some though, GR are aware of the problem and they say they are going to fix it in the not to distant future.

Having said that if you do download your gedcom it's worth checking the year dates, errors usually show up as the year date only and affected dates will show up as 0000 not the year date it should be such as 1881.
