Hi,
1881 has Emely Kemp age 5, born Illogan.
1891 the family have Emily age 3 born Stithians.
I can't find a birth, marriage or death for Em* or Amelia within the timeframe.
(Emily 1888 is there.)
Any suggestions as to what the name could be?

Was Emely Kemp born before the marriage so registered in maiden name? Only suggestion I can think of unless she was a nurse child, adopted etc

what about this birth, i no it is out by abt 4 years but ages on census can be wrong

I wonder if the one on the 1891 census could be the Illegitimate child of one of James and Ellen's daughters?

Plus if you look at the ages on the 1881 and then on the 1891 you will note that some ages are out by a couple of years

I don't no why but, actualy i do? i think that the older children were registerd in a different district? i have found a marriage for A James Kemp and Ellen,
on the 1891 Ellen the wife of James kemp is down as born Crowan, and Crowan is in registration district Helston, so i think that Ellen gave birth to the children at the house of a family member, possibly her mothers, lots of young mums did this in day's gone by

I cannot find Ada M kemp in cornwall and Eliza Emma kemp any where near the place and year.

Hope this helps it is only my Theory,
but would need some certs or parish records to back it up

Emely is the 3rd child so doubt that she is prior to the marriage. It is Nos. 3 and 6 that I cn't account for.
Roy - yes it's Phillip, the father, so that is the information I have - and I imagined that one would have died before another child would be given the wrong name.
I'll check out all your ideas after work.

If you look again the marriage i found was before their first childs Ellen Jane Kemp's birth in 1869, the birth is same year but the very next quarter,
also i have updated my other post so take another look

Yes, they certainly moved about.
2 births 4Q 1870, 1 birth 2Q 1872
1 death 2Q 1872 aged 1 (month?)
2 plus a maybe on the census.

Perhaps they couldn't count?

Will take time over the weeken.
