A friend has an ancestor who apparently had close links with Kier Hardy. Do any of you good people have an idea about how I may find out any information on this fo her?

Many thanks in advance.

Kier Hardy was a big name in the union movement and the founder of the Labour Party.

Just came across this thread by chance and had to tell you that I live in a road called Keir Hardie Way in Essex.....apparently it was named after him as he was offered a Labour seat in West Ham in the late 1800's......thought you might be interested to know! :)

there is also an estate in East London, Custom House area, not far from the Excel exhibition centre named after Keir Hardie , many of the estate road names were drawn from those of war victims,, many of them ARP wardens and volunteer firemen etc.......

What sort of close connection did the ancestor have?

Thank you all for your help and sorry for delay in replying. My friend doesn't have any specific information on her ancestor's link with Hardy; only rumours in family. Will google him and investigate links with East London.

Thanks again.
