I'm looking for an Ann, but I wonder if I should be widening my search to other names. would it have anything to do with margret,
spelling as in 1841 cencus.
Any suggestions.

You could try a pet version of the name - Nanny, Nancy, Hannah, Annie?

Ann could be her middle name...?

I'm Ann and it's not short for anything - usually lengthened to Annie which I do not like!!!!

Thank you for your thoughts.
The lady I have found is Margaret, and all the details fit in with everything, except, on the christening details just names the mother as Ann,
So I was hoping there might have been a link
Thank you again,
I'll plod on.

One of mine is shown as Jane on some of her children's certs.
She was registered at birth as Silvey, but Christened Sylvia Jane.
She died as Jane.

They might have been registered Margaret Ann perhaps...?

My Gtx3 Grandmother was Elizabeth but in the 1841 census she is Ann. I also have a letter sent to her by her employer addressing her as 'my Dear Ann'. Her employers name was Elizabeth, she was the housekeeper, I guess that her employer didn't want her to have the same name as herself.

Hannahs were smetimes known as Ann(e)

Ann (real name)
