Genealogy Chat

My great grandfather was born in Malta and wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction for getting confirmation of his birth? His brother was born on HMS Tamar on the way to Nova Scottia, any ideas how I get confirmation of his birth? Their father was in the army and travelled all over the world. I also have two girls born in Peshawar, any ideas how I can confirm their births?

GRO BMD indexes for overseas event (including for military persons) can be searched online either on findmypast or family relatives websites

If you would like to post some names and dates I'll see what I can find.

If the birth records are present in the GRO index it is possible to obtain certificates from the GRO in the normal way

Thomas Shanahan born 8 March 1869 (not sure how accurate this is as given to me by elderly relative, but assume year is correct) Born in Malta

Joseph Shanahan born 21 May 1872 on HMS Tamar

Brianna Budd born 1853 Cawnpore, India

Isabella Budd born 856 Ferozepre, India

I also have a John Budd who died 18 November 1857 in Peshawar

Any help would be great.

That's great, just wish I could find my Shanahan's now - any ideas?

I have checked all the indexes on FMP and simply cannot find them, maybe they were not registered or simply missed off.
