I'm not familiar with the systems in England. Can someone tell me what is the most efficient way to investigate a single record? I want to determine whether the following death record from BMD relates to Annie Riddell Brock, born Leith, Scotland, in 1857:-

Annie Brock / 37 / Northwich / 8a / 150 / September 1894

Thanks
Alistair

You would have to buy the death certificate.

English certificates don't give a person's place of birth though, so unless one of her parents registered the death you may still struggle to confirm whether or not it is the lady you are interested in.

Was she living in Cheshire in 1891?

She was in Jedburgh in 1891, but no trace after that, in Scotland. Was a hotel manageress, so could have gone anywhere.
