Ancestry has been updated.
You can search for births after 1915 and up to 2005 without having to trawl through each quarter.

I prefer Free BMD. Most areas are now covered right up to the 1930's.

I agree freebmd is great, ..I've always used it alot but this new searching on Ancestry is sooo easy.
Just type in surname and maiden name if you want and up pop matches in seconds....Right up to 2005 births

So now we cant see the original images of the full register ?
So I go and look up my own birth and guess what, Name spelt wrong and wrong County , just another opportunity for more mistakes !

Thanks Gwyn
It was only two days ago that I trawled the quarters for two hours and still missed some records.
Two minutes now and I have the lot!

Very handy - however, I checked just 8 records and two had errors, If I were to rely on Ancestry transcriptions to order the certs, that would have been 6 quid down the tubes, so you definitely need to check the images,

Gwyn

Thank you so much for the tip.

Just found 'me' in the 1950s and I am not on FreeBMD.

Oh dear, what with searching the 1911 and now this, how on earth can I get the 'domestics' done???

Thanks again

On my opening page it's about half way down, in the centre.
Just to the right of a coloured box advertising Directories.

Found under the general heading of.......

New Records on Ancestry.co.uk

Me neither. I looked for myself in 1951, hubby 1953, sister 1955 nothing. Only from 1984 onwards. I tried to search the complete birth index on Ancestry this morning and again this afternoon and a heading comes up 'unknown' and then the Ancestry logo saying not enough information. Never seen this before and have used ancestry for ages.

There does seem to be a problem....probably too many people trying to search !

I have just tried and it says there are no matches, ....for things I viewed earlier.
