Hi Rachelle,

Scotlands People actually have deaths up to 2006, you can search them and download the reference numbers etc and order the certificate online, haven't heard of anyone who had a problem getting a certificate up to this time.
I have actually viewed a death certificate for 1957 on Scotlands People website. What year are you searching?

From Scotlands People!!

» Births 1855-2006
» Marriages 1855-1933
» Deaths 1855-2006

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone knows if there is any kind of restriction in ordering a death or birth certificate from Scotland if that person lived and passed away within the last 50 years?

I know in Australia we have to provide proof of id etc if we want birth information etc but am not sure of the position in Scotland.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Rachelle
