Lancs Records Office is in Bow Lane, in Preston city centre, if that helps. It's across the road, to the left and down another street as you come out of the train station, or there's a big car park behind the Fishergate Shopping Centre, too.

To my mind, Bolton's a bit of a vague concept - the parish has several chapelries, as does the parish of Deane (which certainly lies in Greater Bolton).

Lewis (1848): BOLTON-LE-MOORS (St. Peter), a parish, and the head of a union, in the hundred of Salford, S. division of the county of Lancaster; comprising the borough and market-town of Bolton, the chapelries of Blackrod, Bradshaw, Harwood, Little Lever, and Turton, and the townships of Anglezarke, Breightmet, Edgeworth, Entwistle, DarcyLever, Longworth, Lostock, Quarlton, Rivington, Sharples, and Tonge with Haulgh; and containing 73,905 inhabitants, of whom 33,610 are in Great, and 16,153 in Little, Bolton, 43 miles (S. S. E.) from Lancaster, and 197 (N. W. by N.) from London. ...

Now I just did a search in 1828-1832 at:
http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/Search/indexp.html
and got one suitable hit, namely the one posted above by Potty, but I didn't check whether all relevant registers were transcribed.

Could be this one - from Lancashire on line parish clerk site which has loads of parish record transcriptions for Lancashire
http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/

Marriage: 11 Oct 1829 St Peter, Bolton, Lancashire, England
William Smith - of This parish
Jane Grundy - of This parish

But with a name like Smith! Did they have any children after 1837? A birth cert of one would confirm Jane's maiden name.

Susan you have a couple of options.

As suggested above, you can look at the Family Search site. Be careful though. In the IGI records (International Genealogical Index) you might get excited to find your ancestor, also finding that more information on other members of that family is added.
Looking further down the page you should check to see if the information is submitted or extracted. It will say something like "submitted by a member of the LDS church etc etc etc".
If it's 'submitted' rather than 'extracted' you have reason to be wary and should always check the given information, because it means that someone, just like you or me, has submitted that information voluntarily, rather than it being extracted from official records. Humans make mistakes and, as has been proven many times, the submitted information could be wrong and misleading because the person who submitted it hadn't done a thorough job of checking their information first against official records.

To check official records you could take a trip to the County Records Office (wherever it is in Lancashire) and look through the Parish Registers yourself.

Or you could ask on here. Many GR members hold copies of various county records and will do a look up for you.

Good luck.
