Hi, Would be grateful for any guidance, I have never met my Grandparents (both of whom are now dead) because when their marriage broke down in 1944 my Mum and her female siblings were placed in Dr Barnardos. Neither parent wanted to keep the girls and their brother was raised by his paternal Grandmother but was not allowed any contact with my mum and her sisters. The record that Dr Barnardo's have sent me shows that my Grandfather had been arrested and charged and served 3 months in prison in 1938. It has occured to me that there maybe a photograph of him taken when he was arrested - does anyone know if the police would keep photos this long and if they did would they allow access to them? I would love to see what he looked like. I have managed to track down a photo of my Grandmother as a baby, and as a young adult but have nothing at all for my grandfather. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Very much doubt that record so long ago would still exist now. It would have been weeded long ago.

Thank you both for your response - I will try the newspaper archives tomorrow, the area was Westminster so as I am going to London tomorrow will see what I can find while there. There was another arrest the following year then a further arrest in 1944 so I might try to visit Westminster Police Court and West London Police Court to see if by any chance records do exist.
