To be quite honest, I think there are many folk who would be grateful to receive 20 emails especially if they offer hope in finding the people they are looking for. I know I would.

This seems to have generated some discussion.
Have noticed a post from BilboBaggins about the practicality of it. It is possible. Facebook do it and I'm on so many freecycle and political e-lists that during the USA election had to turn off the email option and revert to reviewing via the web option - couldn't find my own emails in the middle of all the hundreds of election comments to various threads.

The fact the GU don't do it is something else - well maybe one day.

Think about it - it isn't practical.

Just imagine, twenty people post onto a thread in the space of half an hour so the original poster gets sent 20 emails? Don't think so

I've been contacting GR about this but they don't seem interested. I try and help folk who are struggling with how to find their threads and tell them that they won'f receive email alerts. Some days its hard to keep up with the sheer volume. One day , may be.......!

There isnt the option on Genes for you to get informed when a reply is added to your thread,You have to keep checking back I,m afraid.
I,m not sure if you can bookmark your own threads to make the search a bit quicker.
Any thread that you have initiated or added to will be listed if you click on My Threads on the left hand side of page under Tools

hi susanne,
you do not need to check everyone, as with all posts if it is added to it is nudged up to the top, so threads not added to will be at the bottom or on another page

Is there any way on GU that one can set an option or something so that anybody replying to a post it is emailed to one's normal email.

I have mine in my threads but it still means I have to check each one every time I use GU
