Hi Pat

I have come across this problem on ancestry before but I do think it may have something to do with the way ancestry site allows people to enter details for place of birth. I have many rellies in Birmingham but when I enter on my ancestry tree the options I get are huge lists of USA locations. So it could be that the people who have your relatives on their tree just entered them wrongly via place of birth and have not 'hijacked' them. Perhaps it is best to contact them saying your are unsure of a link because of different place of birth etc and let them know you have certs to back your info! As for contacting the possible connections I think Jonesy has explained.

Hope you get it sorted

Sorry Jonsey, I don't understand what you are saying. Surely if these people had done their research and bought certs, they would have found the facts.

Thing is, how do I contact them and make them aware of their mistakes? I only want to help.

Can anybody tell me how to make contact with Ancestry Tree Owners?

When you look at the 'Hints' it gives you the option to add or make contact but from thereonin, the option disapears.

I have a few people I feel oblidged to contact because they have really gone astray with their research. I will give you an instance:

Sarah McPherson nee Edmonds B.1844 Hartley Rov, Hampshire, England. This person has Hartley Rov, Hampshire, Massachusetts, USA. Her husband is shown as John McPherson, B.1831 Edinburgh Indiana USA but it should be Edinburgh, Scotland.

They have the correct Marriage: 1871 Bethnal Green, London, England and the correct deaths, he 1883 Southwark, Surrey, England and her 1901 Southwark, Surrey, England.

They were my Gt Grandparents.

I have found a couple of other 'hints' where people have transferred their English ancestors into Americans, one of them even found one to be Bolivian but I know they were English.

Am I being horrible, trying to put them right or should I let them get on with their wrong trail?

Please advise and tell me how to make contact.

Pat
