I agree and so do many others about the cost of 1911, but I understand the cost of it is the pay off for it being released 2 years early!
I am sure the likes of ancestry will have it as part of their collection at some point.
Well must get on now as only on line because the kids have a day of school due to all the white stuff, should be out and about but decided to stay in the warm for now!!!
Nice to chat!

Hi Tina,

No, I don't live near Worthing.

I have only been on the 1911 census doing searches out of curiosity but the counties I'm waiting for are not on yet so I haven't bothered to buy any credits. I think it's very expensive and I think I will probably wait until it is released more fully (hopefully on Ancestry within their subscription price).

Hi Kath!
Just found our (railway)risk attendant on the 1901 census but she was only 13 then! However she was living at the time with her parents and siblings just down the road from the family she was staying with in 1911 if you see what I mean!

Her name was Amelia Cole in 1901 she was 13 years old, living in Ladds Lane Chippenham Wilts and my family are on the same census page about 3 entry's up, they were the Wood Family who had a fish shop in the Causeway Chippenham.
So she was a known to my family and just happened to be in the house on the night of the census, it was just her occupation that grabbed my attention really!!
I have been on the 1911 census to track my direct line of ancestors, I thought the information given was really good but I used up £24 in credits in no time at all!! Have you been on it yet Kath, what did you think.
Sorry I must have got you mixed up with another Kath, so you don't live around Worthing then??

Hi Tina,

I don't think it was me that sent you photos earlier (but my memory is terrible so you never know, lol.

Do you want to give the name of the person you are looking at and the census year so we can have a look for ourselves?

UPDATE - sorry, just realised you have already said it's the 1911 census you are looking at and I don't have credits for that, so can't look.

Hi Kath
Thanks for your reply, I have got the information from the actual census image. I have studied it more closely to see if it could be kiosk attendant but it does say "Risk Attendant" But on closer inspection I see in what looks like a pencil addition to the entry before the word risk there is another word that looks like it could be railway-Railway risk attendant, could be an occupation I suppose. My next look up is to see where this person was in the 1901 census as it says she was born in the same town to see if she came from a family of "risk attendants" well you never know do you!!
I will keep you posted!!
By the way Kath, I think you have helped me before, I was asking about streets and places in Worthing and Lancing and you very kindly helped me and sent some photos...........................well I think it was you anyway!!!!
Maybe it was another Kath, it was ages ago though, probably 2 years ago!!!!!
Have a good day!

Have you got this from the transcription or have you looked at the actual census image?

Just thought that it could be Kiosk Attendant instead.

Hi anyone got any idea what the above occupation would involve? It sounds like something that an over zealous health and safety officer would be called but I am looking at 1911 here. This is listed as the occupation of a person that was in the house on the day of the 1911 census she was listed as a visitor, The house she was staying at was also a fishmonger and fruitiers.
Have tried to google it but nothing comes up that would be it. The lady in question was 23 years old. I am just curious, it would not appear to actually be a relative of mine but as I say curiosity on my part.
Any ideas??
