Illigitimate childs surname. - RESOLVED

When a child is born iligitimate it is normally given the mothers maiden surname if the father is not declared.

Does anyone know what surname is given if the mother is already married to someone else or her husband has died?

Would the child bear the mothers maiden name or her married name?

Many thanks

Thanks for that information, my grandmother was illegitimate and I wondered why her maiden name was on her marriage c. in place of her fathers.
