Single Man? I've seen "s.w" before which I think means "single woman".

In a marriage allegation for a minor, (under 21), I found the following entry

Robt Pawsey, of Depden, 20 years, s. m. (mother, Ann Pawsey) & Mary Rutter, of same, at same. 03 Feb 1773.

Does anyone know what the abbreviation "s. m." stand for?

Many Thanks

Michael
