If a person registered on the site, with a tree on it, is not a paid up member does this mean that they can not receive my message?
And can they reply to me or not?

Yes they will receive your message and yes they can reply to it. They may not use the site anymore though.

Thanks Sam,
What can't they do then, if they haven't paid?

They can't initiate contact, post on message boards and I seem to remember that if you contact them they can read your message but need to pay up before they can reply to you.

Has that changed then Janet? I thought that they could reply to messages but not initiate contact? That was a while back though so it is possible that they have changed it to make more money!

They can't initiate contact, post on message boards (except success) or view some else's tree even if it's opened to them

They can reply to messages & view the messages boards

Ok next question sorry!

Done a quick search and found someone, but it's asking for a password???

Doe that mean the person who owns the tree has blocked access unless you know the password which you obviiously have to get from them?

Yes, you have to contact the owner & they will give you the password.
