Importing data from others' trees

Don't forget that if you import any gedcom to genesreunited it will overwrite any existing tree you may have on here. So you probably need to work out offline which parts of your cousin's tree fit into yours. If you already have a GR tree then you probably want to add to it rather than replace the whole thing.
You can only do that in a family tree program or by typing in all new additions.

The family tree programs I use allow merging of trees if you wish.

if you cousin wishes she could download a gedcom file and email to you and then you could upload it to genes reunited as your tree, if you have a family tree programme offline you could edit it before uploadiing it. otherwise you could highlight a relative on your cousins tree and then just copy it to your tree, it would be considered polite if you asked first?

If she is willing for you to have her data then the easiest way is for both of you to have a family tree program on your computers. You could use the free PAF one from the LDS for example.

She could then export her GR tree into her computer tree program. She could copy it onto a disc or memory stick then you could import it onto your computer.

Have your own GR tree in your version of PAF or whatever and merge the two bits of tree. Then import the lot back into GR where it will overwrite whatever you have on there already.

Does anyone know if you can copy across or import data from another person's tree?

My cousin has already put loads more information on her tree and I wanted to avoid having to print her's out and type it into mine.

Thanks
