I purchased a cert for May as she was very ellusive!!! The mothers details were missing??? I queried this many times and then later learnt that not all the children were infact biologically 'Nash' and he reg the earlier children??? As the name W.Nash didint match anything either??? Which was a 1st marriage cert i bought. Then was told like earlier in this thread that not all info is correct and the W could infact be a 1st initial which he didint use in in name e.g W. Nash could be Bill Nash to family/friends ??
I'm sooo glad i have now with help and fresh minds got going on this again.

Thanks

Cynthia

Paula,

You could have solved this a while ago buy purchasing one of the children's birth certs.

As in many families we have conflicting info and as none of my aunts & uncles can remember very much i have little to go on, but they are certain she was born in Southport?? And in 1901 census she was there visiting?? However i cannot for the life of me match her alleged maiden name Sharples with the correct possible marriage to ??? Nash. I cannot even try to trace her by her maiden name as i just keep going round in circles. This is the only thread in my family thats not even begun :)))
Where am i going wrong???

So that does give her maiden name as Sharples.

I wouldn't treat ages given in census as gospel ... :-)

If I were you, I would send for that birth certificate, then you would see both parents' names.

Is the father not listed on the children's birth certs or marriage certs? Trying to find her marriage would be the way to go.

Could someone please help??? For 2 years now i have been hitting a brick wall with my G-Grandmother!! And her children!!!
Her married name was Annie Nash (Certain!!) She married ??? Nash and had 10 children (certain) all born in Bucklow Cheshire
apart from May who was born in Knutsford reg Runcorn.
Lucy 1901
May 1906
John 1907
Harry 1909-1921
Eileen 1912
Hilda 1914
Jessie 1915
Joan 1919
Marian 1921
Brian 1925
Now the problem i have is that i cannot match her alleged maiden name (Sharples) with ANY info relating to her maiden name, where born, marriage etc. Now if the Census for 1911 is right then it all fits her alleged place of birth(listed as Southford but is supposed to be Southport?) BUT the worrying thing is her age in 1911 has her at 45!! Which would mean her being 60 yrs when she had her last child!! Help, going VERY insane as this info i cannot unravel to proceed!! I have even purchased in-correct marriage certs and still got nowhere???
