thanks everyone sorry i didnt get right back but had a visitor. his wife came from leigh . he was 21 and she was 19. there has always been a bit of a family rumour that grandads family came from oldham but never been able to find any connection . he was born in leigh and his parents in ireland. grandad gave the address 3 thorn street oldham and grandma 11 thorn street oldham although both sets of families came from leigh and are on all census as leigh lancashire
thanks

What address did the bride give?

There are so many enumeration districts in Oldham that I couldn't face looking at every description on Ancestry looking for the street.

Sorry.

You can do an address search on the official 1901 census site - but it's pay per view.

Did his wife come from Oldham - that might be why he married there. Or if he was under 21 and didn't have parent's consent for the marriage they may have gone out of the area so no one knew.
