How many of you have old or new photos?

You don't know for sure who they are but would like too?

How many, Have them old photos your grandparents handed down to you and would like to know who they are?

Well if you do then you might be interested in a site you could put them photo's on, in order to try and get some more infomation about them. If you would be interested then let me know and i'll PM you an site addy. I think it's a great idea for people that are doing the family tree. What do you think?

Thanks for that site Carol. I had visited it ages ago but when my computer crashed about a year ago and I swapped it for a new one they did not install many of the websites I had had on the old one. Obviously I had not written that one in my notebook. *Note to self: find notebook to write it in.*

Hi there,
I have a load of old family photos with nothing on the back, but I have been using the great site, www.cartes.freeuk.com to try and date them and then try and link them to people in my family. I think I am having moderate success and it is very interesting too

A year or 2 before my grandmother died (over 50 yrs ago) my mother took her through her photos and named them all, or at least the ones she could remember. There are only a few that are unnamed.

Can I add that full names are helpful.

If they just say Grandma or Aunt Edith, they may not help much.

I recently posted on success stories, but realised that maybe not many people would see it, and my main point was a request, so I'm repeating it on here - apologies for the duplication!

I was recently able to reunite some old photos I had bought (in a photocase from an antique fair ) with their rightful family, by looking up the name and date written on the back and the address of the photographer's stamp, and checking against other member's trees (bingo! There they were!).

What I wanted to ask is that anyone with old photos where they don't know the subjects, a) checks to see if anything is written on the back and then checks against member's trees, and b) writes on the back of any photos they have. They may know who they are, but future generations may not!
