Just noticed Jan that you're looking for people called Longfield.

I have the phone book for the Wakefield area and there are a few with that name. Please let me know if you want the phone numbers and addresses.

Just been looking in the Yorkshire Evening Post the email for the editor is
[email protected]
phone number is

As Kirsty says, the YEP is normally very good at this sort or request.
Good luck.

Yes, that'd be no problem.
Good luck with your research :)

Hello Krsty.
That's a very generous offer, thank you. Would you be OK if I contacted you at a later date about this? The reason for this is that the most recent relatives I have come up with were born in the 1920's! I need to try and bring it a bit closer (well, OK, a lot closer!). Their name doesn't seem to be as common as it sounds - Longfield - so with a bit more research I might just succeed.
And many thanks again!

Good luck.
If you want I could have a look in the phone book (if you haven't done this already) - send me a message if you'd like me to do this. It'd be no trouble.

Thanks very much Kirsty! The relatives inquestion are very elusive, so if this doesn't work I don't know what will!
Wish me luck.

You can write a letter to the editor for publication on the letters page via:
http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/contactus.aspx

Just make sure to put that the letter is for publication in the subject header

The YEP are usually very good at putting in letters from people searching for relatives, plus it is a well-read paper.
Good luck.

Hello there.
Do any of you kind folk come from the Leeds area? I am thinking of putting an ad looking for relatives there. In Birmingham you can advertise for free in the local free paper, so I am wondering if anyone knows of something similar I could do.
Thank you!
