You're welcome.

Waiting can certainly be painful, whether it be days, months, years ... :-)

Have bookmarked this, to look again.

You say you think that William was born in 1852? So you do not have his birth certificate? I can see a William Henry's birth registered in the September quarter on the free BMD site, not in Kent though.

You can search registrations of BMDs on fiche / film at records offices and some of the larger public libraries.

Looking at the ancestry site for the 1861 census, I cannot see a William, born about that year, born in Kent.

Let us know when you have received the marriage certificate.

An interesting quest ... :-)

Hi Joy, thanks for offering to help.
Well here goes, gt grandfather William Henry Faulkner, married Mary ann Cramp, 1872 they have 2 daughters Esther ann 1874 and Mary jane 1875, then Mary ann re marries a Frederick Dadswell in 1878 all in the Reigate Surrey area, well I am pretty sure that William was born in 1852 in kent, but cannot find an entry for his death between 1874 to 1878, there is only 1 entry on the BMD that fits the area but the age is listed as 90, unless it is a mistake, not sure what to think, I went to the surrey history centre yesterday and they have suggested to go to Kew and look at the original records which i will probably have to do, anyway hope all that makes sense and a very big thanks for taking the time to help me. best wishes yvette

Would you like to give us some names, so we could have a look for them?

I would be so grateful for any suggestions. My gt grandfather/mother married in 1872, they had children in 1874 and 75, then she remarries in 1878. I am presuming that my gt g/father died, but have been unable to find anything on the bmd that fits him, i am sure that he was born 1852 and was living in the merstham/reigate surrey area. I am waiting for their marriage cert, and may have to get the marriage cert for gt grandmothers 2nd marriage. Any other ideas where or how I could find out what happened to him. thanks so much for reading. yvette
