I honestly do believe that GR does not read threads, they wait until someone reports a thread, and then I believe delete without even checking then!

you really really don't want to go to FRC, it's worse than here for deletions!!



FR is the parent company of GR, it's Friends Reunited which was started to re-unite school and work friends, then they set up GR



a few years back they set up Connections as a chat site, first on message boards, then they opened chat rooms


It's free ........................ and they encourage you to use aliases on the boards, in fact at first they wouldn't let you join unless you used an alias.

In 2007, they shut down the message boards on FR (old FR as it is now known), and forced us all to go to Connections. In turn, they made some concessions, including the fact that we could have our own names as board names if we so wanted.


Because it is free, people get numerous accounts under different names, so they can be nice, nasty and b***** awful, if they feel like it.


I stick to just one board, and about 10 threads on that board! Mainly people I met on old FR.



Moderation on there is largely by computer programs .......... so you can't put Essex, Sussex, or Wessex ................ it becomes Es***, Sus***. They did manage to correct Middlesex! Similaryl, you used to have problems with Pakistan, until complaints made them correct that program (it became ****stan!).

Threads and postings are alwqays being deleted because people click on the Request Review tab, and make some explanation .......... and off the posting/thread goes. Yet when I tried to get a thread removed because ti was homophobic ....... I got told they didn't see anything wrong with it, but would keep an eye on it!

I remember reading it didn't seem bad seemed like a good debate.

So whose going to start the thread asking if GR's blanket moderations the best way to do things?

I'm use some free boards, one with no membership fee and they moderate their boards in a better manner than Genes do.

I agree with what Sylvia said. I managed to catch Gerri's explaination of why she had put up the thread in the first place and couldn't believe the attitude of the 'other person'.

GR must read the threads before cutting them off - they should also take into account the matters being raised and look into them and take action on the problem.

I am not convinced that GR reads all and every thread on these boards ............ they wait until someone sends a report in, just as happens on FRC!
