Can anyone please tell me why a baby would not have a name on registration but does have a name by the time they marry. This is in 1843 and thanks to a member who pushed me in the right direction I now have the cert of birth. Would he have been given a name at baptism and if so how can I find out? His parents were married at registration.

Hi Jonesey
Thanks for that I have had a quick look but couldn't find anything.

Have you found the family in 1851 census?
Is the child named there with a place of birth?
Perhaps a look in the parish registers for that place will show a baptism.

Hi Gwyn
Thanks for that, yes I have found him in 1851 aged 7 with parents, says he wa born Yelvertoft as on cert and is still living in Yelvertoft. Need to find Parish Registers now.

I have a child who is not named when his birth was registered, he was baptised 3 days later and died the following day. When his death was registered his name wasn't entered just the word male instead of his first name. I don't understand why his first name wasn't on the death certificate. I know it's the same child as I have both certificates and have seen the parish register.

Hi Chrissie
I know I have the right one as mother and father are right, I have his marriage cert but I am also having difficulty finding his death registration.
