I found information about my family name change in the 1950's printed in "The London Gazette". Maybe worth a try Ann.

Hi Ann,

I've just had a quick google. And found that there is no central registers for deed poll name changes.

According to the website there is an "Enrolled" deed poll, which is registered with the government through Court service.

Deed polls that have been enrolled in the last 5 years are held at the Royal Courts of Justice (Strand, London, and WC2A 2LL. Tel: 020 7947 6221). Before then and going back to 1851, they can be found at the National Archives (Kew, Richmond, and Surrey, TW9 4DU. Tel: 020 8876 3444). However, you need to personally visit the National Archives to search the records (except for Deed Polls enrolled between 1965 and 1983, which are electronically stored and can be searched by telephoning the National Archives.

Kind regards

Kelly.

Sorry if this has been asked before but would anyone know where to find details of a name change. It would probably be within the last 50 years so that could be a problem.

Will be away from the pc for a few hours so please forgive me if I don't respond to any replies for a while.

Thanks
