This looks like the family in 1861, and the mother is Bridget


No census distinguishes between real and step-parents. It is assumed that the wife of the ehad of the house is the mother of all children listed as his.

Hi can someone help me with this puzzle. Ive been sent a copy of the 1871 census for John Henry living in Standish St , Chorley with his parents James Henry and Betsey( Henry is the surname).John is listed as being 19 but his mother only seems to be 31, am I reading this right??.Any help and guidance would be greatfully received as I am new to this. thanks Cath
