Hi Nicky.I joined ancestry in.it seems like 1896......maybe 2005...and it seems to keep shifting the goalposts in relation to whats available. I welcome your help vis a vis christenings....wasn't for my own benfit it was for the peeps i do wsork for in Derbyshire.....so I won't bother upgrading

I renewed last month an took the premium membership which actually cost 108 pound something. The christenings are few and far between and to be honest this is my 5th year with ancestry and next time I will only take the minimum package.

If I can help with a christening look up let me know.

Anyway derek....don`t pay out more just to get the Christenings, there are quite a lot of people on here who have the BVRI discs who are more than happy to do look ups, or if not one of us with Ancestry could take a look for you.....Is there anyone in particular?

Hi Derek, I think this must be part of their new structuring Did you only join ancestry recently? I rejoined last august after letting it lapse for a few months, but certainly have no problems accessing UK records.

Hi Nicky.nice to hear from you again x..I have the annual UK passage..with itys census an BMd's etc..good enough in itself..but the CHristenings come up with a padlock......opened, i assume by paying £107.00!! i.e premium membership.........

I only have the annual uk package and already get the christenings and all new additions of UK information automatically.......what package do you have?

Derek.... The Christenings on Ancestry as I understand it are from the BVRI index....... some counties covered better than others, london for instance is quite poorly covered.

If you google the BVRI it may give you its coverage.

Does anybody know just what you get for updating to premium membership in order to have access to Christenings? they are very coy about it.....ahey adverise christenings from 1591......but how much of the country does it cover.
In other words, is it worth it?? sorry i'm talking Ancestry.co.uk in case i wasn't specific enough
