Just a quick question, would the bride/groom's age appear on a marriage certificate in 1862? or would it say full age or minor etc

Thanks

Selena

All mine have said the atual date. Like Joan said, the actual ages are not always right. The youngest I have had in aged 17 years old, this was a women in 1871.

With regard to Selena's query, could anyone please tell me at what age people could marry without parent's consent in the 1860s.

many thanks

We have certs. giving the ages of the bride and groom and also some which just state "of full age" or "minor".

Thanks for the replies. Seems to be a mixture of full age or putting in the age that has been given (accurate or otherwise). I cannot find a birth reference for the bride in question. Although I have her on 51 and 61 censuses, I can't find a birth reference for her.

Thanks again,
