What on earth is a Mounishre Dealer? (1911 census)

One of my relatives in the London area in 1911 is listed on the transcript as a 'Mounishre' dealer? (an Employer).

Does anyone have any idea as to what that could be?

Have also looked at the original but hard to read. Could be Moonishre or Moonshine (?!) dealer?

Appreciate any help! Thanks

If you give us the name of the person and details for the census entry we could have a look

Thanks so much for replies so far, Details are:

Thomas Gregory aged 31, born Lambeth. Living in 1911 at 81 Peckwater St, Kentish Town. Wife, Rebecca, children: Thomas, Arthur and Frederick.

Thanks! So it isn't someone that peddled illegal alcohol then! :)

Sorry Julia, just realised you were looking at 1911 not 1901 - so I dont have the census image for that. I was trying to find him on 1901 to see if he were in same business.

What you can do if no one on here has the 1911 is whip over to Family Tree Forum and upload the image of his job and see if people can read it on there.

BTW, is this him - did he drop "John" :)

Have a look at http://rmhh.co.uk/occup/b.html

I found this site 3 years ago. It lists Old Occupation Names in alphabetical order. I was going to print out the whole list but found the occupation I was looking for and so stopped.

A piece of advice: do the search before you print off the pages as there are 20 pages just to get you from A to G.

If you can't locate it, try a google search for Hall Genealogy as that is the heading on the top of the pages I printed off.

Hi Julia,
Don't have 1911 census but found him on 1901 doesn't help much though has he was a "paper sorter" then.

as an aside I used to go to School (in the 70's) with a Phillip Gregory from Gospel Oak Kentish Town
