I think the latest AVG is not as good as the previous versions.

Ive heard Avira is a good free one or avast.

Ive also recently discovered SuperAntispyware which is free and very quick, excellent.

And Malwarebytes also free which discovered a trojan that had got through my full paid for av and firewall suite.

I trid most but found Comodo to be the best one, also includes firewall and anti-spyware and anti-malware. Its free and usually updates its protection daily.

Like Joy, I mainly use AVG and Avast. Despite warnings to the contrary I have both on my PC and they do not interfere with each other.

Only criticism with AVG running in real time is that it can be resource hungry and slow things down.

Dont forget you also need to run a Spyware check from time to time as well. Spy-bot and Ad-aware are the two to go for here.

I don't use it myself, but I've heard that AVG is a good one to download.
