Can anyone please advise me where i can find information on someone coming to the UK from Germany, sometime between 1850 and 1875,
I have a Christian Dryer, born abt.1852 in Hannover Germany surname probably anglicised from Dreyer.
The earliest i can find them is on the 1881 census, when they were living in West Derby Liverpool, but the eldest daughter Loiuisa was born in 1876 in London Middlesex, so it must have been prior to this when he came to the UK. I dont know if Christian came to the UK with his parents or not, i have looked at previous census records to find him and his parents, using all the possible name variations, but nothing that i would say is conclusive.

On birth certificates of 3 of the children i have purchased , they had seven in total, their mother is named as Ada Louisa Reinhard born 1856 also born in Hannover.
I have the family in 1891 & 1901 census, when they lived in Nottingham, Charles the son of Christian married my gt Aunt.

Any guidance about immigration into the UK from Germany for the years mentioned will be much appreciated, or indeed any info at all

It certainly looks like them George.

You could buy one of the birth certs of one of the children which will confirm the parents' names.

The marriage cert should show Christian's father's name and occupation - and Christian's occupation. That might help with tracking them on the census - especially if the name has been completely mangled!
